Outlaw Tacos

Here we have a “mom and pop” style taco food truck that is based out of the heart of Alabama. The name itself creates a tone of something that goes outside the norm. The owners came to Dominion Digital with the need of a first impression for their future customers. With the name containing Outlaw, it was an easy decision to have a cowboy as the logo. With it being a dual ownership between husband and wife, there came some differences in opinion. The husband wanted skulls and bandanas, while the wife wanted a more family-friendly style logo that could cater to the audience when they attend family church functions in the community.

Coming into the initial consultation, the owners knew they wanted a black and grey scale logo, they wanted a circular styled logo that could easily be placed and read from passing cars on the road. The challenge was finding the right font that could embody the theme of the brand a food truck. We tried out many tattoo-styled and western saloon type fonts. One issue was that the husband originally envisioned a cursive-styled font. However, with it being a circular logo, bending the font would only make it more difficult to read from sidewalks and passing cars. After cycling through many graphics, fonts, and layouts. The owners ended up deciding on a logo that was more simple than graphic.

Below is the final product selected by the owners of Outlaw Tacos. What separated this logo from all the others was its simplicity, yet cohesion to the overall theme of Outlaw Tacos. The circular shape, the thin outline, and the “Est. 2024” gives off the look of an old-time coin. The font is a good blend between a serif style tattoo font and a western saloon font. The cowboy graphic gave the ruggedness that the husband originally envisioned, yet still family friendly enough to bring to your church congregation.
